ARNOLD—Approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday (April 1), a semi-truck with trailer rolled over on Highway 92 near Arnold and County Road 420. Forty-four-year-old Florida man David M. Johnson was heading west on Highway 92 when the truck ran off the roadway to the right, re-entered the road and crossed the center line, and then ran off the road to the left, entered the south ditch, and overturned. The 2016 Freightliner landed on its driver side.
Records from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office indicate that the driver stated “he was driving too fast on the snow covered road.” Damage to the truck is estimated at $10,000.
Johnson was transported to the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow with non-life-threatening injuries according to Sheriff Dan Osmond. The Arnold Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the call.
Johnson was driving the truck for Lincolnshire Trucking, Inc. out of Chicago. The vehicle was towed to Kearney by Dowhy Towing.
Also on Sunday, at 10:40 a.m., the Custer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle accident on Anselmo Road near Road 809. Callaway resident Mary A. Cool, age 73, was driving a 2001 Chrysler minivan when it went off the road and hit a power pole a half mile off of Highway 92 on Anselmo Road.
