WAYNE – The Wayne Area Legacy Fund began their campaign in raising money for the community, following the weekly Friday morning Chamber Coffee event.
Held at Arnie’s Ford, 119 E 3rd Street, members of the community gathered around to learn more about the Wayne Area Legacy Fund.
One of the goals for the Wayne Area Legacy Fund is to grow an endowment. Interest earned off the endowment will be put back into the community through grants and more.
Ford Motor has a program called Drive 4 UR Community. The first event hosted by the Wayne Area Legacy Fund will take place on Saturday, June 10, according to Chairman Bill Dickey.
“We’ll have 10-12 vehicles that Arnie’s will be bringing out to that to be able to test drive,” said Dickey. “For every test dive, Ford Motor is going to be donating $20 to the Wayne Community Foundation.”
The event will last from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Fire Hall. Ford Motor will provide up to $6,000, so it would take 300 test drives for the Wayne Legacy Fund to get the max.
Also, one of the first projects for the Wayne Area Legacy Fund will be campaigning with the Majestic Theater. The theater is in need of some new technology updates and a new roof.
Bill Reeg, owner of Arnie’s Ford Mercury announced that the Ford dealership made a $25,000 donation to kick off the fund drive for the Wayne Areal Legacy Fund.
There is a committee of nine people that have been working on the Wayne Area Legacy Fund. The group will be on social media and create a Founders Club.
“Anybody that comes in between now and the end of the year (and) makes a contribution to it will be considered to be a part of the Founders Club,” Dickey added.
Contact Bill Dickey or any of the committee members for more information. To make an online contribution visit: www.nebcommfound.org and find the Wayne Affiliated Fund.
Join KTCH/KCTY on Saturday, June 10 as we’ll have reports from the “Drive 4 UR Community” event hosted by Ford Motor.
Moments Portrait Boutique will host next week’s Friday morning Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m. on June 16.
