WAYNE – Newly opened Swans for Men hosted Chamber Coffee Friday morning, where they also celebrated their official ribbon cutting, welcoming the business to the community. The public crowded into the downtown men’s clothing store at 205 Main Street in Wayne.
The new store is directly across the street from Swans Apparel and both are owned and operated by Jennifer Claussen. Swans has been a staple business in the Wayne community for a very long time, but the men’s division is new to Claussen and her employees.
“We started carrying men’s in the spring in the women’s store and had really good response at that point and so decided we needed to start searching for a larger environment, so we could bring in a larger assortment and expand,” Claussen said.
Swans for Men will be open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Claussen told those at Chamber Coffee that if someone is having a wardrobe emergency on a Monday, if they stop at Swans she’s willing to help out. The store focuses on business-casual wear, accessories like ties and belts, and carries big and tall sizes, all fulfilling a need in the community.
“There’s been such a need for men’s clothing, just to fill in those niches that aren’t already offered in the community and people have been asking for it for quite some time, and it’s been a passion of mine, definitely was a goal when I took over the women’s store, to eventually be able to open a men’s store and provide those pieces that are missing here, so it’s been absolutely amazing,” Claussen said.
Swans for Men will be hosting an open house Friday night from 5 to 9 where the community can shop, enjoy some snacks and beverages and have a chance to win a DeWalt Drill/Impact Driver combo kit. Claussen said the new store is a challenge, but one worth taking.
“I’m so, so appreciative of the support and it’s been absolutely awesome, I love it,” Claussen said.
The consolidated veteran’s group will be hosting Chamber Coffee from the Wayne Vet’s Club at 220 Main Street in Wayne at 10 a.m.
