Tacos & More Host Wayne Chamber Coffee, Celebrates 20 Years
Sandra and Rick Gathje celebrate 20 years of Tacos & More

WAYNE – The Wayne community was invited to Tacos & More at 509 Dearborn Street, Friday morning to help the restaurant celebrate their 20th year in business.

Rick and Sandra Gathje opened Tacos & More for business on February 1, 1998 and haven’t looked back. Tacos & More serves both Mexican-inspired food, as well as American favorites, and they also specialize in cookies and customized cakes. Though the times have changed, the Gathjes have opted not to mess with success too much.

“Basically, we’re doing the same thing we did 20 years ago, except we’ve expanded on the cookies,” Gathje said. “We do serve breakfast seven days a week, which is something that we added a few years down the road.”

Gathje has made one small update to the cake side of the business, with the use of a new color, edible ink printer to really personalize the goodies.

“I can scan any picture whether it’s your grandkids whether it’s your dogs, or whatever, and we scan that into the computer and it’ll print it out and put it on the cake,” Gathje said.

Tacos & More is open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. It’s also a popular site for local civic organizations and business as the two back rooms provide an affordable meeting space.

“The back room is free for anybody that wants to use it as long as you purchase the food from us. The one room can seat around 45 people, the other sider can do 25 or 30, so we could probably do up to 75 people,” Gathje said.

The Gathjes do ask that if you are interested in using the back rooms, to call Tacos & More at (402) 375-4347 to make sure they are available.

The next Wayne Chamber Coffee will be hosted by the Wayne County Republicans in the Elkhorn Valley Bank Community Room at 411 E. 7th Street at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 9th.
