PENDER – Go “Back to the 80s” during Pender High School’s musical this weekend.
Though school has just started, 40 Pender Pendragons have been working hard to put on a great performance, according to vocal music teacher, Brandi Kolbeck.
“We started the second week of June and we did a couple of days a week throughout the summer,” Kolbeck said.
“Back to the 80s” is a comedy with lots of pop culture references that should resonate especially with those who remember the decade.
“The narrator of the story is reminiscing back to his graduation year of 1985,” Kolbeck said.
However, audience members who didn’t witness the 80s will know some of the songs, like “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” “Kids In America,” and “Love Shack,” just to name a few.
The audience even has a chance to get in the spirit of the decadent decade and come in their own costumes.
“If you decide to come to the show and you dress up in 80s attire, your name will be entered into a fun drawing for a fun prize at intermission,” Kolbeck said.
“Back to the 80s” will have three performances: Friday and Saturday, September 8-9th, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, September 10th at 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door or $1 for Pender students.
