FREMONT – The traditional Christmas Walk event in downtown Fremont will be slightly different this year.
Instead of hosting the event on Friday evening, MainStreet Fremont has moved the Christmas Walk to this Saturday in support of Small Business Saturday. The event will now be an all-day event. It will start at 7 a.m. and end at 10 p.m. with a Christmas movie at Milady Coffee House. Executive Director of MainStreet Fremont Shannon Mullen says this event is their way of giving back and welcoming everyone in the community to the downtown area.
“The Christmas Walk has been a tradition in the downtown area. It’s a way for folks to come downtown and see the lights and visit the different businesses in the downtown area,” said Mullen. “And it’s our way of welcoming everyone throughout the community, and thanking them for their business.”
There will be numerous activities throughout the day, including Christmas movies, live music, caroling, and family crafting activities. Mullen says there will also be a few special guests for children at the event.
“We will have live reindeer and Santa will be downtown. There’s all kinds of activities that are at no cost to people,” said Mullen. “But if people want to support Small Business Saturday, there’s a lot of great sale opportunities. And there are different things that are available throughout downtown. It’s just a really great opportunity.”
A full schedule and list of participating business and activities can be found online at www.mainstreetfremont.org or by visiting MainStreet Fremont’s Facebook page. The first activity of the Christmas Walk will take place at 7 a.m. at Blue Bottle Coffeehouse at 529 N. Main Street.
