Tuesday Morning Accident Totals One Vehicle, Passenger Sent To Hospital

COLUMBUS – A two-vehicle accident on Tuesday morning totaled one vehicle, and caused a passenger to be sent to the hospital for minor injuries.

The accident occurred at the intersection of 23rd Street and 23rd Avenue around 7:55 AM on Tuesday. The drivers of the vehicles involved were identified as 42-year-old Malay Thongthai of Columbus, and fellow Columbus resident 71-year-old Linda Aerni.

An accident report states that Aerni was driving westbound in the left lane of 23rd Street, while Thongthai was driving eastbound on 23rd Street, preparing to make a left turn onto 23rd Avenue. Thongthai turned in front of Aerni, and the right front of Aerni’s vehicle struck the rear passenger side door of Thongthai.

Thongthai’s vehicle was totaled in the accident, while Aerni’s vehicle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damages. A passenger in Thongthai’s vehicle, 42-year-old Columbus resident Brianna Manning, was transported to Columbus Community Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
