WEST POINT – Two men are in jail facing felony charges related to the death of a rural Cuming County man last month.
The Cuming County Attorney’s office says that criminal charges have been filed against two men.
Twenty-seven year old Derek Olson of Madison is charged with second degree murder, first degree arson and a felony weapons charge among others. In addition, 48-year old Jody Olson is charged with being an accessory to a felony.
The two are charged in the death of Ernest Warnock, whose body was found inside a burned home north of Bancroft in March.
Court documents indicate Warnock suffered multiple stab wounds, and that pathologists believe Warnock was killed before the fire took place.
The Olson’s were pulled over in the early morning hours of March 11th by a State Patrol trooper. The trooper indicated there was a lot of blood, as well as a bloody knife in the vehicle.
Jody Olson has waived his preliminary hearing. He’ll be arraigned in Cuming County District Court on June 1st. Derek Olson will make his initial appearance in county court on May 11th.
