White Out Conditions and Black Ice Making Friday Travel Treacherous

NORFOLK – Drivers in northeast Nebraska are struggling with their morning commute on Friday.

Friday morning snow combined with wind gusts to create near white-out conditions in Northeast Nebraska. The Norfolk Regional Airport measured a wind gust of 47 miles per hour just before 7 a.m.

There were multiple reports of cars and semis in ditches along U.S. Highway 81 north of Norfolk, but no serious accidents had been reported.

The Nebraska Department of Roads was reporting Friday morning that most northeast Nebraska highways are snow-packed and slippery.
