Woman hit with knife during fight

LINCOLN, NE- A man was arrested for assault and three were cited after a fight in Lincoln after a woman was struck in the face with the handle of a knife.

Lincoln Police say Thursday around 4 p.m., officers responded to the 800 Block of North 26th Street in Lincoln on a report of an assault.

Officers contacted several people, and according to witness accounts, the argument started when McKenzie Cooley, started arguing with a victim about her boyfriend, Charles Schlick, being a registered sex offender.

The victim told police Cooley spit on her and punched her in the head, which Cooley admitted to.

As Cooley and the victim were fighting, police said Schlick approached Cooley carrying a knife and hit her in the face with the handle.

When this assault occurred, police said Cooley’s father, Lance Cooley, and mother, Christi Shipp, began punching and kicking Schlick.

Officers cited and released McKenzie Cooley, Lance Cooley, and Christi Shipp for misdemeanor assault. Officials also cited and lodged Charles E. Schlick for 2nd Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.
