#1 Millard South forces 24 turnovers in road win

NORFOLK – One of the common basketball axioms is “Defense travels.”

The idea is that championship-level defense can help great teams on the road, particularly on off-shooting nights.

Class A #1 Millard South’s defense certainly traveled Saturday, forcing 24 Norfolk turnovers. That helped the Patriots overcome a tough-shooting performance in a 44-27 win.

Millard South opened the 2nd quarter on an 11-0 run, which opened up what had been a close game to that point.

Norfolk never found their comfort zone offensively, which helped Millard South win by a large margin, despite scoring just 15 second-half points, with just five in the fourth quarter.

The win is Millard South’s sixth in a row, and ended Norfolk’s two-game winning streak.
