BISMARCK, N.D. – By far the longest trip of the season for any Wayne State College sport is the trip to North Dakota. #21 Wayne State College made their volleyball trek north to visit University of Mary Friday evening.
The Wildcats secured their fourth consecutive sweep, winning 12 straight sets since a 3-0 loss to St. Cloud State on September 23. WSC swept the Marauders (25-20, 25-19, 25-17) to improve to 11-6 (5-3 NSIC) while University of Mary falls to 5-12 (1-7 NSIC).
Senior Erin Gross led Wayne State College with 10 kills followed by freshman Alyssa Ballenger with another seven. Junior Megan Gebhardt added 30 set assists while sophomore Katie Stephens recorded a team-high eight digs.
As a team WSC out hit University of Mary, .235 to .092 while winning the blocks at the net (11-4).
The 21st Wayne State College Wildcat volleyball team will be right back in action on Saturday, October 7 at 1 p.m. when they visit Minot State University.
