#22 Wayne State Sweeps Season Series With #16 Augie

SIOUX FALLS, SD – For the second time this season the travel partners of NSIC volleyball took to the court on a Tuesday night as #22 Wayne State College visited #16 Augustana.

From the Elmen Center on the campus of Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota the match was held.

WSC defeated the Vikings in Wayne on September 19 in five sets, this time it took the ‘Cats four sets to get the victory on the road (25-17, 18-25, 25-23, 25-18). After falling two spots in the rankings to #22, Wayne State College improves to 16-10 (9-7 NSIC) while #16 Augustana falls to 18-8 (9-7 NSIC).

Sophomore Katie Stephens and freshman Alyssa Ballenger each recorded a double-double as Stephens posted 16 kills and 18 digs and Ballenger added 10 kills and 10 digs. Senior Erin Gross also had 16 kills. Junior Megan Gebhardt tallied 45 set assists while sophomore Haley Kauth tacked on 16 digs and freshman Hope Carter added another 15.

As a team WSC out hit Augie, .193 to .146 and went 4-2 in service aces.

#22 Wayne State College will continue their road NSIC weekend with Bemidji State on Friday, November 3 at 6 p.m. and Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, November 4 at 2 p.m.
