#4 Heartland Offense Propels Them over #5 Osmond

LINCOLN – A strong offensive performance by #4 Heartland, helped them outlast the #5 Osmond Tigers in round one of state.

Heartland took an early lead in the matchup against the Tigers, outscoring them 12 to 7 in the first quarter. Thanks in part to Lane Huebert who scored 9 in the opening quarter.

The two teams stayed even in the 2nd quarter giving, Heartalnd the 5 point lead going into halftime.

Out of halftime Heartland hit stride, knocking down a total of four 3 pointers in the quarter, two from Regier and two from Huebert. Osmond Head Coach Todd Schulze says his team couldn’t quite match heartland’s offensive pace, scoring 11 points in the 3rd Quarter to the Huskies 16.

“I thought we played really good defense the whole game, but we went through long stretches not being able to hit a jump shot,” says Schulze.

On a mission, the Huskies kept up their scoring pace in the 4th quarter. Connor Boehr came up big in the 4th, seeing some solid action in the paint, as well as Regier hitting another three pointer.

The Huskies came away the 52-34 win in round one.

Even though the season ended for Osmond, Schulze says this years team was a special one.

“They’re just great kids. You know they came to practice. Worked hard every single day, and they did what they had to do, they just played their role and they had a great season,” says Schulze.

Osmond finishes the year 22-4, while Heartland advances to 21-3, and will play at Devaney on Friday, at 10:45 a.m.
