Cyclone Track Team Sets Records At WSC Indoor Meet

It was a record-setting open to the track season on Friday as the Cyclones set two new marks at the Wayne State College Indoor Meet.

In the 4×160, Kylie Thiele, Katie Stearns, Skye Schroeder, and Kinzly Macke ran a 1:31.89 to break the previous mark of 1:32.40. The previous record was set in 2016 by Macke, Thiele, Schroeder and Mallory Cooper.

Creston Berschinger also set a record in the 55-meter hurdles with a 9.22-second prelim. He finished fifth in the hurdles, as well as the 55-meter dash in 7.19.

The Cyclones claimed several medals on the day. For the boys, Jacob Long was fourth in the triple jump at 38-7.5 and Seth Lampert was fifth in pole vault, going 7-6.

In the girls division, Thiele won the 800 in 2:32.92 and Alexis Pokorny topped the high jump competition at 5-0 with JoCee Johnston finishing second at 4-10.

Macke was second in the 55 in 7.88 and third in the 200 at 29.46. Brooklynn Chipps threw the shot put 33-5 for a runner-up finish. Schroder was fifth in the 55 in 8.12.

Rounding out the girls events was the second-place 4×400 of Macke, Johnston, Pokorny and Thiele in 4:39.75. The 4×800 team of Allison Kerkman, Taylor Sanne, Alyssa Moser and Johnston finished sixth in 11:50.15.
