COACH INTERVIEW

NELIGH, NE — Cole Belitz and Austin Rice each scored 20 points and the Neligh-Oakdale Warriors beat the Plainview Pirates 49-44 on Friday night.

The Warriors (6-3) broke their two-game skid by beating the Pirates (5-5).  They also extended their win streak over Plainview to six-straight victories.

Both teams struggled to start the game as Neligh-Oakdale limped to a 9-5 lead after the first quarter.

The offenses improved some in the second quarter.  Plainview’s Riley Kaup drilled a three at the buzzer to make the Pirates’ deficit 23-16.

Plainview took the lead in the fourth quarter after baskets by forwards Brandon Rassmussen and Jake Lingenfelter.  Then, Belitz and Rice made enough plays down the stretch to recapture the lead and hold off the Pirates.
