LAUREL – The Lutheran High Northeast Eagles shot out of a cannon Friday night on the road against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.
On the second play of the game, LHNE’s Logan Nitz found the edge on a jet sweep and took it 51-yards for a touchdown to give the Eagles a 8-0 after the 2-point conversation.
After forcing the Bears to punt, LHNE scored on the second play of their next drive when Jaxon Kant found Ben Gebhardt on screen pass that went 65-yards to give the Eagles an early 14-0 lead.
The Eagles jumped out to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter and led by as much as 34 points midway through the 4th quarter before sealing a 62-42 win over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.
Junior quarterback Jaxon Kant finished with a combined 500 yards of total offense for the Eagles and now has gone over 2,000 yards of total offense himself throughout six games.
The Eagles (5-1) are back home next Friday to take on Madison while Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (3-3) is on the road to take on Howells-Dodge.
