ALBION – It seemed like only a matter of time.
After struggling from the field in the first half of Hartington Cedar Catholic’s nine-point win over Boone Central/Newman Grove on Friday, Trojan senior Anna Reifenrath saw the lid on the basket open up. Reifenrath scored 14 points in the third quarter alone, and finished with 26 points and nine rebounds overall.
“In the first half, my shots were struggling to fall,” Reifenrath said afterward. “In the third quarter I got in rhythm and started hitting them more.”
First-year head coach Craig Wortmann said afterward that what they saw in the second half is what they’re accustomed to seeing from Reifenrath.
“She has a really quick shot,” Wortmann said. “She knows how to get herself open. She’s been playing since she was a freshman and you can tell. I expect that out of her.”
The Trojans are 1-1. They next face Bloomfield in their home-opener on Tuesday.
