Stanton Comes Away With A Four-Set Victory In Wayne

WAYNE – Thursday night marked only the second home volleyball game of the season for Wayne High.

#6/#4 Stanton visited the Wayne Jr/Sr High School gymnasium in a Class C2 at C1 showdown.

The Mustangs came away with the four-set victory (25-12, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17) to now sit 16-2 on the season. Wayne High suffers their third straight loss to fall back to 9-10 overall and will next visit Pierce for a road triangular on Tuesday, October 3 along with Boone Central/Newman Grove.

Freshman Lauren Pick paced the Blue Devils at the net with eight kills, followed by five each from senior Kylie Hammer and sophomore Emily Armstrong. Sophomore Allyson Avery added 12 set assists while Hammer led the team in digs with 18. Sophomore Korrina Niemann (15), sophomore Hailey Backer (11), junior Ashton Boyer (11) and Armstrong (10) all recorded double digit digs. Boyer tacked on three service aces as senior Shania Anderson led the team in blocks with four.
