‘This is like the Super Bowl’: Nebraska City at Schuyler Friday night
The Huskerland Prep Report 2018 Nebraska High School Football Preview is available now at 800-323-3929.

SCHUYLER – You wouldn’t think a match-up between two football teams, who finished last season with a combined record of 1-17 would be a top-30 contest in 2018, but it is.

The Huskerland Prep Report preseason magazine has Nebraska City at Schuyler as the #30 game to watch.

Publisher Bob Jensen, A.K.A. Huskerland Bob, says one of the great moments last season was when the Warriors snapped a 45-game losing streak. Now with a one-game winning streak they host a Pioneers team that finished 0-9 a year ago and haven’t won a game since Oct. 14, 2016.

“You got two teams going to line it up. Haven’t had a lot of success. Somebody’s going to come out of this with a win. To these two teams, and the kids on the teams, this is like the Super Bowl. I love the idea of them facing each other on opening night.”

According to Jensen, the spotlight is always going to fall on the “rich and mighty,” but all these kids are going to go out and give their best effort. He thinks the winner between Nebraska City and Schuyler will have a “crazy postgame pizza, video game party” to celebrate starting the year 1-0.

The two teams square-off on Friday at 7 p.m. Concession sales at Schuyler High School begin at 6 p.m. The game will air live on Otoe County Country (KNCY, Nebraska City – 1600 AM, 105.5 FM, ncn21.com and ncnsportsnow.com).

Listen to Jensen’s full interview during the News Channel Nebraska Halftime Show this week and every Friday night through the prep football season.
