WAKEFIELD – The Wakefield Trojans wrestling program held their second home event of the season over the weekend, this time featuring nine other teams.
The Wakefield Tournament was held Saturday. Earlier in the year, Wakefield hosted a triangular on January 12.
Millard South JV took first with 217.5 points, followed by Logan View in second with 206.5 points, Wakefield took third (111) while Norfolk JV and Randolph tied for fourth with 82 points each.
Omaha South finished sixth (69), Stanton took seventh (60.5) Winnebago placed eighth (60), Ponca finished ninth (40) and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge rounded out the 10 teams with 25 points.
Wakefield’s top finishers were Julio Sanchez (195) and Moises Barboza (220) each took first, Tay Guill (106) and Charlie Lopez (126) each finished second and Isaac Verzani (145) placed third. Other top finishers were Luke Walsh (152 – fourth), Jacob Dorcey (120) and Jacob Anderson (126) each took fifth, Nolan Litchfield (160 – sixth) as Ben Chase (132) and Erik Gladitz (170) each finished seventh.
Wakefield will next be in action for the C-2 District on Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11 held at Cross County. Teams competing in the District Tournament includes Arlington, Centennial, Cross County/Osceola, David City, Doniphan-Trumbull, Filmore Central, Gibbon, Grand Island Central Catholic, Hastings St. Cecilia, Lincoln Christian, Raymond Central, Red Cloud/Blue Hill, Shelby-Rising City, Wakefield, Wood River and Yutan.
