WAYNE – With the Post 43 Junior and Senior American Legion baseball teams preparing for the 2017 Max Greve Wood Bat Tourney, Wayne still had a regular game to play Friday evening.
From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, Tekamah was in town.
In the Juniors contest, Wayne led early with a run in the first. Tekamah then outscored Wayne 3-1 in the second and 5-1 in the third to lead 8-3. Wayne Post 43 managed two more runs in the fifth, but fell 17-9. The Wayne Juniors are now 7-5 on the season.
Trevor DeBoer recorded two singles, three runs scored and a RBI to pace Wayne at the plate. Reid Korth doubled while Josh Lutt singled.
DeBoer suffered the loss in two and two-thirds allowing eight runs off of four hits while striking out one batter and walking two. Tyrus Eischeid worked two-thirds of an inning allowing five earned runs off of two hits while striking out one batter and walking five. Jacob Sherman pitched a third of an inning allowing four runs off of one hit while walking three batters. Tyler Gilliland worked the final inning and a third allowing one hit.

Moving into the Seniors contest, Wayne Post 43 led 8-0 after the second inning. Both teams scored two runs in the third while Wayne added two more in the fourth to win 12-2. Post 43 improves to 6-1 on the season.
Tucker Nichols recorded a three-hit contest with two singles, a double and four RBI’s. Mason Lee added two singles and a RBI, Caden Korth singled twice and drove in a run while Adam Bentjen doubled.
Isaac Camarena picked up the complete game win in five innings allowing two earned runs off of three hits while striking out seven batters and walking six.

Wayne Post 43 will open Wood Bat Tourney play Saturday in Wayne. The Post 43 Seniors will battle with Beresford (South Dakota) at Noon while the Post 43 juniors will face Wisner at 4 p.m.
