Celebration of life service for Mr. Claude A. Hansen, 69, of Norfolk formerly of Oakdale will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk with Rev. Terry Buol officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Military rites by American Legion Post 16, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644, Nebraska American Legion Riders, and the United States Army Honors Guard.
Claude passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements.
The son of Donald and Rosa (Armstrong) Hansen was born June 24, 1947, at his parents’ home in Neligh. He attended several rural schools before completing his education in Oakdale.
He served as a supply clerk in Vietnam while in the U.S. Army from Sept. 13, 1966, to Sept. 5, 1968.
Claude enjoyed both hunting and fishing before becoming physically disabled. Those who knew him well will remember his passion for guns; he could sit and talk about them for hours. He took pleasure in making knives and hand-stitched sheaths, as well as his handmade bows.
Claude worked at Blackburn Manufacturing in Neligh and moved from Oakdale to the Norfolk Veterans Home in 2011.
Survivors are his sister, Ruth (Rick) Fogleman of Norfolk; stepchildren Daylnna Robertson of Elgin, Darrell (Kelly) Weed of Norfolk, Donnelle Weed (Matt Wright) of Oakdale; and step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Rosa; two brothers, Donald and Everet; his significant other, Janelle Weed; and a stepson, David Grundman.
