GRAND ISLAND — Two men have been arrested and 52 pounds of marijuana has been seized after a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near Aurora.
At about 2 pm on Sunday, a trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol saw a Jeep speeding near mile marker 329. During the traffic stop, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity and searched the vehicle.
Marijuana was found inside two large boxes in the car, and more packages were found hidden in the tire compartment. A total of 52 pounds of marijuana was found, with an estimated street value of $156,000.
The men arrested are 23-year-old Fahiem Faiyaz, and 21-year-old Ameer Ghafoori from California. Both are lodged in Hamilton County Jail.
