Pedestrian critically injured in West Omaha accident

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) — Omaha Police have identified a pedestrian critically injured in a traffic accident early Wednesday morning as Antwan Broaden, 47, of Omaha.

Broaden was hit by an SUV driven by Carlos Tellez-Sanchez, 19, of Omaha, near 107th and Q streets. It happened shortly before 1 a.m.

Investigators say Tellez-Sanchez was westbound on Q in a Kia Soul when Broaden crossed Q, south to north, and was hit by the oncoming vehicle.

Officers say Broaden was crossing mid-block, not in a marked crosswalk, and suffered life-threatening head and leg injuries.

Tellez-Sanchez was not injured.

Q Street was shut down at the accident scene for approximately four hours. It was reopened at 4:50 a.m.
