Woman claims she saw mountain lion, cubs in park

LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Police received a report of a mountain lion and cubs in Herbert Park in Lincoln on Thursday morning, but no evidence has been found to confirm the report.

Police said the call came in around 5:20 a.m. A woman said she was parked at a business nearby the park, heard noises, and “went to investigate.”

Herbert Park is located west of 84th and O streets.

The woman claims she saw a mountain lion and multiple cubs in the park.

However, officers inspected the area, and found no evidence of a mountain lion or cubs. Authorities also contacted Animal Control, who reached out to Nebraska Game and Parks.

A wildlife biologist for Nebraska Game and Parks said it is highly unlikely a mountain lion would be in that location, and police are saying that as of Thursday morning, there is no evidence to support the claim.

However, an investigation is still ongoing.
