Fire Destroys Camper Late Sunday Night, in Beatrice
BEATRICE – Fire destroyed a trailer-type camper last night in north Beatrice. Firefighters were sent to 926 North 5th at around 10:55 p.m.
The unit was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. They had to go around one block to avoid utility work that had blocked part of 5th, near the fire scene.
The camper was parked along the south side of a gravel stretch of Garfield Street. It was far enough away from other homes that no other damage was done.
Fire Captain Craig Fisher said no one was injured in the fire, and a state fire investigator was summoned to look into the cause of the blaze.
Fisher said the camper was being used for storage, and no one had been living in the unit. It had been brought to the scene, just last Thursday.
There was no electricity or fuel source hooked up to the camper.
The loss of the camper in the fire was estimated at $1,400. fisher says contents lost inside, were valued at about $600.
One fire truck, an ambulance and ten firefighters responded to the fire. Officials were on the scene until about 1:30, a.m.
