GRANT COUNTY - Grant County authorities say a semi-trailer fire on Highway 2 Thursday morning could have been worse.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office says that around 6 a.m. Sandhills Fire Protection District units from Ashby and Hyannis along with Sheriff units responded to a semi-trailer fire near mile marker 132 on Highway 2.

Authorities say crews quickly extinguished the fire, which was caused by brake and tire issues.

The Sheriff's office cited the quick thinking of the truck driver for getting the trailer off the roadway and detaching the tractor.
