PIERCE, Neb. -- A northeast fire department is investigating a bus fire that happened Saturday morning.

Saturday morning the Pierce Fire Department responded to a Lexington Charter bus started fire near Pierce High School.

Pierce Fire Chief Steve Dolesh said no one was near the bus when the fire happened, so there were no injuries.

Chief Dolesh said this is an on going investigation, while there is no exact start for the fire, he said it was probably mechanical or electrical. He said the bus is a "total loss" with the fire starting in the middle of the bus, then spread to the front.

Hadar Fire Department also assisted in the fire.
