-Original Story-

MADISON - One suspect is in custody after leading police on a chase Saturday afternoon. The Madison County Sheriff's Office called in to Nebraska State Patrol for assistance after a wanted man took off on foot, then swam across the Elkhorn River away from officials.

The Norfolk Police Department and Stanton County Sheriff's office also assisted in the arrest, setting up a perimeter. A helicopter and a K9 unit were also used to help locate the man on the South side of the river in the trees. Officials were concerned about possible hypothermia or other repercussions from the man entering the river, so they called a rescue squad to have him checked out… but they say he was able to walk out on his own. The Madison County Sheriff's office is handling the investigation, and we will bring you updates once they release more information about the incident.
