NORTH BEND - The Dodge County Sheriff's Office has identified the person killed Friday in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 30 west of North Bend, Nebraska.

Jacob W. Schamp, 31, of Columbus was killed when the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe he was driving went off the road and rolled, throwing him from the vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.

Schamp had not been using a seat belt, according to a Sheriff's Office press release. The crash, reported at 12:38 a.m. Friday, occurred about 5 miles west of North Bend. Schamp had been traveling east on Highway 30 and veered to the right, the press release said.

Speed was considered a factor in the crash, which remained under investigation.
