Williams, Roe combine for two-hit shutout in league championship game

BENNINGTON - Pitchers Jordan Williams and Dylan Roe combined to shutout Omaha Roncalli, 1-0, to lead Nebraska City to the Eastern Nebraska Baseball League title on Thursday in Bennington.
Williams gave up two hits and struck out four over 5 1/3 innings in the victory. Roe closed the game, throwing the final 1 2/3 innings.
Head Coach James Widoe says the toughness of his team really stood out in the championship atmosphere.
"We rebounded from a couple errors, a really inconsistent strike zone, and some missed opportunities. We stayed positive and got the job done."
Trent Fahey drove-in the lone run of the game (Tyler Levy) in the top of the sixth inning. Fahey finished 2-4 at the plate. The Post 8 seniors finished with seven total hits.
Nebraska City (14-3) has a chance to win another conference championship this weekend. They'll play Syracuse tonight at 5:30 in the southern division semi-finals of the Southeast Nebraska Baseball Conference Tournament. If they win, they will play Auburn at 8 p.m. for the division crown.
The winner of the north and south divisions will meet at 6 p.m. on Sunday for the conference championship in Nebraska City.
