Three Tornadoes Confirmed in Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS - The National Weather Service says they have confirmed at least three tornadoes in the Sioux Falls area from storms last night.
The NWS says each tornado was rated as an EF2, and in some cases were paired with significant straight line wind damage.
Winds were rated as high as 130 miles per hour. Additional surveys will continue today and spill into Thursday as they continue to investigate all the damage from Tuesday night.
Officials say these are the first tornadoes reported within the city limits of Sioux Falls since 2001.
The storm system that produced the tornado also did damage in Nebraska. The Rock County Sheriff's office reported flash flooding overnight and multiple downed power lines.
