COLUMBUS - A local bank has decided to make Columbus the town they set up their headquarters in.

Great Plains State Bank said they broke ground on it last week.  It will be a 10,000 square foot building located near 33rd Avenue and Lost Creek Parkway.

President and CEO Rick Chochon said he chose Columbus because it just made sense.

“We love Columbus and Columbus is my hometown now," Chochon said.  My wife and I call it home.  We’ve always had a good following here...Of the four communities we’re in, it’s the largest branch that we have also."

Chochon said they're aiming to open the new headquarters in August 2020.
He said when that time comes, they'll close down one of their two current locations near 21st Street and 33rd Avenue and move staff to the new building and hire six new employees.
