Peru State throttled in return to Oak Bowl
PERU - The Culver-Stockton football team totaled 478 offensive yards en route to a 41-7 thumping of Peru State Saturday at the Oak Bowl in Peru.
The Bobcats lone touchdown came on a six-yard keeper by quarterback Dillon Ruelas at the 6:59 mark of the first quarter. It tied the game at 7-7.
The momentum permanently swung in the Wildcats favor following a four-yard touchdown pass from Korbin Marcum to Connor Perrine with 24 second left before halftime. It was the tandem's second TD connection of the first half and a precursor to the Wildcats' second half scoring explosion.
The Bobcats posted another anemic offensive performance, totaling just 130 yards on 56 plays. Ruelas completed 9 of 18 attempts for 71 yards, an interception, and a fumble. J'Lon Horton led the team in rushing with 50 yards. Nic Harris had 10 tackles, three of them for a loss.
Marcum threw four TD passes and had 261 yards, as the Wildcats scored 27 unanswered points in the second half. Nathan Barnes led the way on the ground with 92 yards and a score.
The Bobcats (0-8) will try for their first win next Saturday, November 2nd at William Penn. Kickoff is at noon on Otoe County Country (105.5 FM, 1600 AM, and newschannelnebraska.com.
