Lincoln, Neb. – The No. 14 Nebraska rifle team put together a complete performance to defeat No. 6 Army West Point at the Nebraska Rifle Range today. The final team score was 4,677-4,639.

The Huskers posted an overall team score of 2,319 in smallbore, a team season high. Elena Flake led the way with a career-high 587. Flake's score was the highest of any Husker shooter in smallbore so far this season. Emily Cheramie followed with 584 and Samantha Peterson added 575. Freshmen Hana Musser and Trinity Gomez fired 573 and 568, respectively, to round out the Huskers. Although not squadded, Kayla Gadeken fired 572.

In air rifle the team came together to put up a score of 2,358, led by Elena Flake's match-high score of 594. Kinga Aletto matched her career best with 591, and Macey Way added 590. Samantha Peterson (583) and Elizabeth Lorentz (576) rounded out the Husker squad. Shooting independently, Bailey Powell recorded 587.

Army West Point recorded a team score of 2,300 in smallbore, led by Clayton Hanson's mark of 578. Hanson also led the team in air rifle after posting a score of 593. He was assisted by a pair of 581 scores from Kaitlyn Kutz and Lauren McMahan. The Black Knights' overall team score in air rifle was 2,339, again led by Hanson, who shot 593.

The Huskers take the range again next Saturday, Nov. 16, when they travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to face TCU and Memphis. The next day on Nov. 17 they will be competing against Memphis in Fort Worth. Match action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Fans can follow the action on social media.
