BEATRICE - Long-time Southeast Community College Golf Coach Bill Campbell is retiring after 32 years as a coach as SCC.   And, the person replacing him is one of the many stars Campbell has coached for the Storm.

Calvin Freeman will take over as the new men's golf coach at SCC.  Campbell, during his career at Southeast, coached volleyball, basketball and golf over his three decades, along with serving as a physical education instructor.  He was a three-time NJCAA Division One women's basketball Coach of the Year.  His golf teams logged fifteen consecutive trips to the NJCAA National Tournament.

Freeman played golf for Campbell and SCC from 2011 to 2013, also serving two years as an assistant coach for the Storm.  Freeman, from Table Rock, Nebraska...was a first-team Junior College All-American in both years he played for SCC, finishing sixth in the national tournament his freshman year and tied for second place his sophomore year.

Freeman went on to play golf for the University of Nebraska, where he was a team captain his senior year and had the squad's lowest stroke average, of 74.94.  Freeman spent a few years playing professional golf on the Dakotas Tour, a series of 18 tournaments in Minnesota, Iowa and North Dakota and South Dakota, while spending the winters in Arizona.

Freeman recently completed his Master of Science in Physical Education and Exercise Science from the University of West Alabama.

The Storm's golf season officially begins March 29-30 when SCC plays in the Doane University Spring Invite in Crete.
