Elgin Public Schools Hires New Superintendent

ELGIN - Elgin Public Schools has found its next superintendent.
Elgin School Board President Steve Busteed says Michael Brockhaus from Sidney Public Schools has accepted the position. Brockhaus currently serves as the Activities and Transportation Director and Assistant Principal for Sidney.
Brockhaus will succeed Dan Polk as superintendent, who announced his retirement in December after serving as the superintendent for eight years. Polk will remain in his position through the end of the school year, and Brockhaus is set to take over this July.
Brockhaus was one of four candidates who Elgin considered for the position, and was interviewed by board members and staff members on Friday. The other candidates included:
- Nicholas Mumm, Director of Academic Services and Assistant Principal at Elkhorn St. Patrick's School
- Adam Fette, Activities Director and Principal at Dundy County/Stratton Public Schools
- Eugene Hanks, Secondary Principal of Kimball Jr/Sr High School
