SCHUYLER - A Schuyler man accused of being involved in an October shooting is facing sentencing next week, but for a different charge.

Fifty-three-year-old Shawn Howell pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and will be sentenced in Colfax County District Court on Feb. 19.  He faces one to 50 years in prison.

It stems from an incident in October when law enforcement said they found Howell in possession of a gun after the shooting that took place at his home north of Schuyler.

The shooting left two men injured.  Colfax County District Attorney Denise Kracl said that case remains under investigation.

Howell also faces three counts of terroristic threats in Butler County against a judge and two attorneys.
