OMAHA - Day 2 of state wrestling started off with first and second round consolation matches for Classes B and C, followed by Classes A and D.

In the evening session, third-round consolation and semifinal matches took places.

Here's a rundown of how the area wrestlers have been doing, starting with the evening session:

B 120:

In a dramatic semifinal bout, No. 1 Drew Arnold (Beatrice) fell 2-1 to No. 4 and two-time state champion Paul Garcia of ScottsBluff. Arnold, a two-time state medalist, will come home with another one this season. He'll wrestle in consolation semis on Saturday.

B 132:

Beatrice’s Trevor Reinke, ranked No. 2 in his weight class, advances to the final with a 6-2 win over No. 1 ranked Hunter Gilmore (51-1) of Arlington. Reinke medaled fifth last year as a freshman.

B 160:

Norris’ Tyler Nelson lost 7-0 to top-ranked Josh Miller of Arlington. Nelson has already locked up his first state medal, and moves to consolation semis Saturday.

B 170:

Beatrice’s Brody Nelson, ranked No. 7, advanced to third round consolations with a 12-3 win over eighth-ranked Mack Owens of Aurora. He followed that up with a pin over Wahoo's Cooper Hancock, who's ranked second in the weight class. Nelson, a junior, secured his first state medal and is onto the consolation semis.

B 195:

Fairbury senior Seth Firmanik is onto the final bout for the first time in his career. He had a dramatic 6-5 win over fourth-ranked Alec Langan of McCook, including a takedown in the third period. Firmanik goes for his third overall medal on Saturday. He'll face No. 1 Eli Jansen (31-4) in the title. Jansen has pinned all three of his opponents this week.

 B 220:

Dylan Meyer (Norris) advanced to third round consolation with a pin over No. 7 Dylan Kuehler of Pierce. It was his 100th career victory. His 101st victory was a 4-3 decision over James Hernandez of Lexington. Meyer medaled fifth last season as a sophomore.

C 113:

Alex Schademann (Fillmore Central) got a 5-1 win over Miguel Jaimes of Wilber-Clatonia to advance to third round consolations, but lost a hard fought match, 3-1, against Spencer Bridgmon of Syracuse. Schademann ends his freshman season at 51-10.

C 132:

Tommy Lokken (Wilber-Clatonia) stayed alive after his 5-1 win over No. 5 Caleb Eggleston of JCC in second round consolation. In third round consolation, he dropped a 5-2 decision against sixth-ranked Owen Lade of Battle Creek. Lokken, who was going for his first career medal, finishes his junior year at 41-9.

C 138:

No. 7 Colby Homolka (Wilber-Clatonia) moved to the third round consolation round with a 4-0 victory over No. 6 Austin Cole of Broken Bow. In the heartbreak round, Homolka topped No. 4 Hunter McNulty of Logan View, 7-4, in a very well fought match. Homolka has secured his first career medal.

C 145:

Johnson County Central’s Levi Dorsey, ranked No. 7 in his class, loses a 12-11 heartbreaker to top-ranked Morgan McGinley of Valentine. Dorsey ends his senior season at 32-8. Dorsey scored a 9-3 win over No. 4 Wyatt Smydra of Norfolk Catholic to reach third round consolations.

C 160:

Senior Gavin Heinrichs (Fillmore Central), ranked No. 7, has secured his first career state wrestling medal with a 5-3 decision over Samuel Vrana of Bishop Neumann.

Wilber-Clatonia’s Sawyer Kunc, who’s ranked No. 8, was pinned and eliminated by Dylan Marchland of Archbishop Bergan in third round consolation. Kunc’s bid at a first medal falls just short as he ends his sophomore year at 31-9.

C 182:

Thomas Barnes (Fillmore Central) pinned Joel Abramson of Loomis/Bertrand, and then a medical forfeit put him into third round consolations. In the heartbreaker,  Barnes was pinned in 28 seconds by No. 7 ranked Owen Snipes of Conestoga. Barnes finishes his sophomore year at 45-17.

C 195:

HTRS’ Aiden Worthey is officially a state medalist after a pin over Yutan’s Quran Cook in third round consolation. Worthey, a sophomore, also made state last year and is the lone representative at state for the Titans.

C 285:

Wilber-Clatonia’s Eric Escobar gets a 3-1 sudden victory over Connor Asche of Fillmore Central. That’ll secure Escobar’s first ever state medal as a senior. Asche ends his junior year at 32-14.

D 126:

Thayer Central’s Brenner McLaughlin moved onto third round consolation with a pin over Brenton Abbot of Leyton. McLaughlin, who medaled sixth last year and had two pins this week, was eliminated 8-0 by Josh Spatz of East Butler. McLaughlin ends the season at 13-7.

No. 5 Doug Rainey (Southern) stayed alive with a 6-4 sudden victory over Kyle Durfee of Mullen, and followed it up with an 11-4 win over Javier Marino of High Plains to reach third round consolation, where Rainey lost in a 7-0 decision against No. 2 Adam Miller of Elkhorn Valley. Rainey, back at state for a second straight year, ends his junior season with a 41-10 record.

D 145:

Thayer Central junior Dom Stewart earned a pin over Friend’s Jack Baptista. Stewart, ranked No. 6, secures his first state medal in his second trip to state. Baptista ends an impressive freshman campaign at 26-20.

D 152:

Brody Dickinson (Freeman) got onto third round consolation with a 6-0 win over Isaiah Bryner of Hemingford. He was then eliminated with a 6-4 loss to Trevin Brecka of East Butler. Dickinson ends his junior year at 43-13.

D 160:

Thayer Central's Jackson Fuelner, ranked No. 3, lost in his semifinal match to No. 2 Blake Racicky of Ansley-Litchfield, who got a pin in the first period. Fuelner has already secured his first state medal, and will wrestle in consolation semis on Saturday.

D 195:

Wyatt Haverluck (Meridian) was pinned in semifinals by Carl Mundt of Nebraska Christian. Haverluck will still take home a medal at his first state tournament appearance, as he goes to consolation semis Saturday.

 D 220:

Braden Klover (Southern) is officially a state wrestling medalist after a pin against Trenton Baier of Weeping Water. Klover has had three pins this week.

B 113:

Bryce Karlin (Beatrice) pinned Jamison Evert of West Point-Beemer, but was pinned and eliminated by No. 7 Austin Munier of Sidney in second round consolations. Karlin ends his sophomore season at 32-16.

B 126:

Cadden Eggleston (Norris) was pinned and eliminated in the first period of the first round by Reece Jaqua of Wayne. Eggleston ends the season at 28-19 as a freshman.

B 145:

Cole Maschmann (Beatrice) was eliminated in first round consolation with a 5-3 loss to Garrett Johnson of Platteview. Maschmann ends the season at 32-17.

B 152:

No. 8 Jarrett Koch (Beatrice) battled back with a 7-6 decision over Mychaia Moss of Scottsbluff, but was eliminated with a 14-3 major decision against No. 2 Cameron Zink of Ogallala in second round consolation. Koch ends the year at 37-18.

Elsewhere, Cooper Spalding (Norris) stayed alive with a 6-0 decision over Alex Luttig of Arlington, but then was eliminated with an 8-4 loss to No. 4 Austin Cooley of G.I. Northwest. Spadling ends the season at 35-14.

B 160:

Beatrice’s Torrance Keehn pinned Treyton Jones of Blair to stay alive, but was eliminated with a 6-3 loss to No. 3 Trey Shanahan of Wahoo. Keehn ends the season at 25-14.

B 170:

Meanwhile, Dylan White (Crete) started Friday with a 5-0 win over Brandon Kabourek of Omaha Gross, but was eliminated 13-2 against No. 4 Brett Tinker of Pierce. White, Crete's lone representative who also made state last season, ends his senior year at 36-13.

B 182:

No. 6 Dakota Adams (Beatrice) pinned Dalton Kuehn of Minden, but was eliminated with a 3-2 heartbreaker against No. 8 Kaden Lyons of York. Adams, making his second straight trip to state, ends the season at 28-17.

C 106:

Pedro Hernandez (Wilber-Clatonia) pinned Lane Russell of Broken Bow, but was then pinned and eliminated by No. 8 Jacob McGee of Logan View. He ends his freshman season at 29-12.

C 113:

Miguel Jaimes (Wilber-Clatonia) lost in second round consolation to Schademann, ending his sophomore year at 33-17. Jaimes had pinned Zach Dickau of Hi-Line to start his day Friday.

C 126:

Aidan Trowbridge (Fillmore Central) lost 8-5 in first round consolation to Keaghon Chini of Conestoga. Trowbridge ends his sophomore year at 25-14.

Zaid Martinez (Tri County) was eliminated with a 13-4 major decision against Eli Wegrzyn of Lincoln Christian. Martinez ends his sophomore year at 17-19.

Nathan Patak (Wilber-Clatonia) fell 7-2 in second round consolation against Keaghon Chini of Conestoga. Patak ends his junior season at 31-10.

C 132:

No. 5 Caleb Eggleston (JCC) was eliminated with a 5-1 loss to Tommy Lokken of Wilber-Clatonia. Eggleston did have a pin against Sean Henkel of Yutan to start the day Friday. Eggleston ends his senior season at 41-11.

Caden Reedy (Tri County) was eliminated with an 8-1 loss to No. 7 Tobin Olson of Valentine. Reedy ends his sophomore campaign at 37-19.

C 145:

Cole Reedy (Tri County) was eliminated with an 11-6 decision against Oren Pohzel of Ainsworth. Reedy ends his senior season at 39-11.

C 152:

Joseph Rodriguez (JCC) got beat 9-3 by Steven Menke of Bridgeport to end his senior year at 20-11.

Bailey Waltke (Tri County) was eliminated on a 5-1 decision against Tad Moldenhauer of Wilber-Clatonia. Waltke ends the year at 41-12 as a senior.

Tad Moldenhauer (Wilber-Clatonia) is eliminated after being pinned by No. 6 Ethan Mullaly of North Bend Central after starting the day with a 5-1 win over Waltke of Tri County. Moldenhauer ends his senior season at 29-17.

C 160:

No. 8 Sawyer Kunc (Wilber-Clatonia) advanced to 3rd round consolations with a 9-2 win over Francisco Mendez of Norfolk Catholic.

C 195:

No. 8 Brandon Beeson (Tri County) was pinned by Tyler Wetzel of Ravenna and eliminated. A district champion, Beeson ends the season at 37-11 as a junior.

C 220:

Brandon Siebolt (Tri County) was pinned and eliminated by No. 4 Nathan Scheer of St. Paul. A returning state qualifier, Siebolt ended his senior year with a 27-11 record.

C 285:

Aldo Reyes (JCC) was beat 5-3 by Tyler Thomas of Broken Bow, ending his season at 13-11.

D 106:

Jesse Duba (Friend) pinned Nathaniel Nelson of West Holt in the first round, but was pinned by No. 7 Lane Bohac of East Butler in second round consolation. Duba ends his sophomore year at 20-21.

D 126:

Lane Barton (Meridian) was eliminated with a tough 7-5 loss to Josh Spatz of East Butler in second round consolation. Barton ends his junior year with a 29-11 record.

D 170:

Hunter Green (Meridian) was eliminated in a 4-2 sudden victory against No. 5 Wyatt Hegemann of Howells-Dodge. Green ends the season at 19-13 as a senior.

D 285:

Meridian’s Zacharia Kerwood, ranked No. 7, got into second round consolation due to a forfeit, but lost via pin in the second round to Payton Christiancy of Superior. Kerwood, who made state last year as well, ends his senior year at 26-14.

Consolation semifinals (all classes) start on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., with third and fifth place matches immediately following (all classes). Finals will then start at 2 p.m. for all classes. We'll continue to update results as they become available.
