Winter weather causing travel hazards across much of the state

SIDNEY, NE - A winter storm moving across Nebraska is causing travel to be difficult in many parts of the state.
The Nebraska 511 map shows the western two-thirds of the state are either partially or completely covered in snow, including most of Interstate 80 up to the Grand Island area.
Blue represents partially covered roads, pinks indicates a road is completely covered.
A Winter Weather Advisory also remains in effect for the southern Panhandle until 8 p.m. MST Tuesday. The northern Panhandle and parts farther east into Nebraska will see the advisory last until midnight CST/11:00 p.m. MST on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service says to expect blowing snow which will greatly reduce visibility. Some areas, particularly the Panhandle may see 3-5 inches of snow. Much of the state will experience 35-40 mph winds throughout Tuesday.
Some schools in the Panhandle area are closed. You can check the latest closings here: https://panhandle.newschannelnebraska.com/closings
