BEATRICE – The Southeast Community College Board has approved a contractor bid to finish renovating the former Beatrice Business Park building, now owned by the college.

The board, meeting by video conference Tuesday because of the Coronavirus threat, approved the bid of Hampton Construction, totaling about $1.35 million.

Beatrice Campus Director Bob Morgan talked about the project that will be used in the college’s agriculture program.
"This actually does the demolish of the inside and finishes off the building that we acquired, that was called the Business Park Building, just to the south of the residence halls, there. It basically is going to give us the opportunity to get most, if not all of the agriculture instructors into one building".

The building will provide five modern classrooms and provide SCC the opportunity to remove Jackson and Adams Halls, and still have enough classroom resources. A three-story classroom building has been under construction on the Beatrice Campus, scheduled to go into operation next fall.

Tuesday’s meeting was scheduled for Jackson Hall on the Beatrice Campus of SCC, but the college opted to meet by videoconference.
