SCHUYLER - The Sheriff of Colfax County has announced his resignation.

According to a news release from the Colfax County Attorney, County commissioners accepted the resignation of Sheriff Paul Kruse on Tuesday.

His last day will be March 31st.

Kruse was originally appointed to the Sheriff position in 2009.

Colfax County Sheriff's Department Sargent K.C. Bang will lead the department until a new Sheriff is named.

The county seeking applications from experienced law enforcement officers for the position which has an annual salary of around 66 thousand dollars.
