OMAHA - Omaha's first responders are feeling the effects on COVID-19 within their own ranks.
More than a dozen Omaha Police officers are under self-quarantine and one has tested positive for COVID-19.
During a news conference Thursday, officials confirmed that an Omaha Police officer tested positive after returning from vacation.
The officer self-quarantined and has not returned to work.
Omaha Police have cut back on certain calls to limit possible exposure to the virus. They will still respond to crimes in progress, but not car accidents where no one is hurt.
Drivers are told to exchange information and move on.
Officials say that for now, the city's police and firefighters have enough personal protection equipment.
