SCHUYLER - The former Colfax County Sheriff has been arrested after recently resigning from the position.

According to court documents Paul J. Kruse was taken into custody Thursday night on weapons charges.

The probable cause affidavit says that multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a 911 call after a shot was fired at the former sheriff's home.

Officers surrounded the Schuyler residence and were able to get Kruse to give himself up without incident.

Kruse's son was at the home during the events, but no injuries have been reported.

Due to being served a Domestic Abuse Protection Order on March 17th, Kruse was charged with two counts of possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person. He was also charged with one count of discharging a firearm.
