KSID to host virtual prom on May 1

SIDNEY - Students have had many school moments and high-points ripped away during the spring semester due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Schools have been closed and activities cancelled since mid-March because of of the novel coronavirus, meaning schools were unable to host their annual prom dances this year.
For those missing prom, News Channel Nebraska and KSID are hosting a virtual dance party on Friday, May 1. Students will be able to dance to music from all genres on 98.7 FM. KSID will also stream the event live on their Facebook page. Students will be able to send song requests, post photos and videos, and interact with KSID staff from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
While visitors won't be allowed at the KSID studios, Projekt:3D in Sidney will provide lighting, fog and haze in-studio for the Facebook Live broadcast.
Station Manager Hunter Arterburn (a 2008 graduate from Sidney High School) suggests decorating your home, enjoy a banquet dinner beforehand, and create new - albeit unprecedented - prom memories.
"We encourage you to get into prom dresses, get into suits, get into tuxedos, clear out the living room, get the couches out of the way, and crank up 98.7 FM," Arterburn said. "Get ready to celebrate prom with us right here on KSID."
Arterburn says this could be the only prom these students get. They deserve the opportunity to have some fun and hopefully this is the ticket.
