SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. Scottsbluff High School is proud to announce that Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Jamie Batterman has been received the 2020 Richard Katt Outstanding Nebraska Career Educator Award for Human Sciences and Education.

This award honors one CTE educator from each of the Nebraska Career Clusters with each recipient receiving $1,000.

The criteria for selection includes Innovative Classroom Practices, Philosophy of Teaching in Career and Technical Education, Service to the Teaching Profession, Service to Students, and more.

In 2015, Batterman joined Scottsbluff High School during the implementation stage of the career academy program and has served as Family and Consumer Sciences Instructor and Health Sciences and Education Instructor at SHS founding the SHS Chapter of Educators Rising.

Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, Batterman will serve as the School Climate Project Coordinator overseeing the School Climate grant awarded to SBPS focusing on restorative and trauma informed practices, student engagement, diversity, community outreach, attendance, and student mental and social health.

Batterman’s award application stated she was eager to work with like-minded individuals who are passionate about Career and Technical Education.

Batterman serves as the CTE Department chair and participates in a number of leadership opportunities.

Batterman’s peers would say that she is a passionate advocate for CTE programming and that she believes in networking, cooperation, collaboration and relationship building are significant keys to CTE successes.
