Pony Express Association cancels 2020 re-ride
The rerun of the famed Pony Express will return in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the ride this summer.
JULESBURG - The rerun of the famed Pony Express will return in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the ride this summer.
The ride, which is normally held in June, has been held every year since 1980.
In a press release Monday, organizers said they're saddened they had to make this decision, but member and public safety is their priority.
Approximately 600 horsemen were scheduled to travel the Pony Express National Historic Trail in 10 days, relaying commemorative letters from Sacramento, Cali. to St. Joseph, Mo., giving riders and recipients a taste of the old west.
Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado - including Julesburg - were included on the route.
