SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - Emergency services responded to a call of a car crash on 10th Avenue and 17th Street in Scottsbluff at around 7:30 p.m.

After investigating the scene on Monday and talking to witnesses, police said that 27-year-old Donald Willbanks of Scottsbluff was traveling southbound on 10th Avenue approaching East 17th Street at a high rate of speed on a 2002 Kawasaki motorcycle with no helmet on. The second vehicle was a 2017 Ford Escape reportedly being driven by 53-year-old Kimberly Brehm of Scottsbluff. Brehm was allegedly traveling westbound on East 17th Street. Willbanks reportedly failed to yield to the stop sign at the intersection causing the front bumper of the Ford Escape to impact the left side of the Kawasaki motorcycle.

Scottsbluff Police Department, Valley Ambulance Services, and Scottsbluff Fire Department reportedly responded to the call.

Willbanks was launched off the motorcycle when hit and landed in a nearby yard. Medical staff tended to Willbanks and he was transported by ambulance to the Regional West Medical Center with serious injuries.

Brehm had no report of injuries. Both vehicles reportedly suffered major damage and were rendered inoperable. Charges against Willbanks are pending.
