Day 6 of Boswell Trial Details Authorities' Efforts to Track Boswell, Trail
Testimony from a hotel clerk and others gave jurors a glimpse of Bailey Boswell's demeanor, as well as her movements, as investigators narrowed their focus on her and Aubrey Trail in the murder of Sydney Loofe.
A week after Loofe disappeared in 2017, Boswell and Trail were checked into the Days Inn in Spencer, Iowa, by Hunter Birdsall.
"They were just laughing, having a good time, conversating," Birdsall told the jury at Boswell's trial for the killing of Sydney Loofe.
Jurors were shown a Facebook video taken by Boswell in which she and Trail denied involvement in Loofe's disappearance. Nebraska FBI agents tracked their whereabouts based on that Facebook video.
It was also Facebook that caused Birdsall to contact authorities after spotting a post about the search for Loofe and how police were looking for Trail and Boswell. She recognized them from their check-in two days prior, on Nov. 23, 2017.
By the time Birdsall called authorities, the pair had already checked out and was staying at the GrandStay Hotel and Suites in Ames, Iowa. Jennie Bloom, the front desk clerk at the couple's new hotel, also called authorities.
